Some traders follow something called the "10 a.m. rule." The stock market opens for trading at 9:30 a.m., and the time between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. often has significant trading volume. Traders that follow the 10 a.m. rule think a stock's price trajectory is relatively set for the day by the end of that half-hour.

It all depends on where you're trading. Some online brokers allow you to trade popular, high-volume stocks on the weekend. On the other hand, you can trade certain Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) on international exchanges that operate on weekends.

Cryptocurrency markets now operate 24/7 across exchanges so traders can long or short digital assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum. Tokenized stocks are accessible as well when primary equity markets are closed. Commodities that trade electronically over the weekend include gold, oil, and treasuries.

A sell signal is given when price moves below the low of the 15 minute range after a down gap. It's a simple technique that works like a charm in many cases. If you use this technique, though, a few caveats are in order to avoid whipsaws and other market traps.

The 3% rule states that you should never risk more than 3% of your whole trading capital on a single deal.

A simple risk management strategy is to set your stop loss below the opening of the Monday price and a target at Friday's close. More advanced traders will use trailing stops to reduce risk and look for opportunities to extend profits should the market return to Friday's close.

Many forums will tell you that Monday is the best day to buy stocks, while Friday is the best day to sell stocks. The logic behind this advice is that stock prices are said to be at the lowest on a Monday (meaning you will buy shares at a lower price).

While the stock market trades Monday through Friday and has regular opening and closing hours, you can trade futures six days a week and nearly 24 hours per day. E-Mini contracts trade continuously from Sunday evening to Friday afternoon, for example.

Because of time zones, there are forex markets open 24 hours a day, five days a week. That means you can trade forex even when a currency's main market is closed. As a retail investor, you won't be able to trade on weekends, as all the markets close for that time.
